General info
Styron Buna® Styrene Butadiene Rubbers are produced at Styron’s world class production facility in Schkopau, Germany resulting in a product of exceptional consistency and quality delivering excellent processability resulting in high degrees of customer satisfaction and loyalty.
Styron’s multi-purpose emulsion SBR grades are found in almost all sections of the rubber industry, not only tyres but also conveyor belts, vibration-damping systems, hoses and mill and tank linings. Styron Buna® SBRs provide a good balance of wear resistance and wet grip with high processability performance.
Portfolio
In the Styron Buna® SBR product range are four grades of cold polymerised emulsion Styrene Butadiene Rubber, SBR’s:
- Styron Buna® SBR-1500 is manufactured by cold polymerisation using a rosin acid soap. A discolouring stabiliser is added during the production process. It is an excellent general purpose rubber, which can be processed in all sectors of the tyre and rubber industry.
- Styron Buna® SBR-1502 is manufactured by cold polymerisation using mixed rosin acid / fatty acid soaps. A non-discolouring stabiliser is added during the production process. In addition to being an excellent general purpose rubber Buna® SBR-1502 is mainly used for the production of light-coloured rubber articles which can also be applied in the food industry (please refer to Styron regarding applicable regulations).
- Styron Buna® SBR-1723 is manufactured by cold polymerisation using mixed rosin acid / fatty acid soaps. In relation to solid rubber it is plasticised with 37.5 parts of TDAE oil which does comply with EU DIRECTIVE 2005/69/EC for use in tyres within the EU. A discolouring stabiliser is added during the production process. Although its main application is in the tyre industry Styron Buna® SBR-1723 can also be used in a wide variety of general rubber applications.
- Styron Buna® SBR-1739 is manufactured by cold polymerisation using mixed rosin acid / fatty acid soaps. In relation to solid rubber it is plasticised with 37.5 parts of TDAE oil which does comply with EU DIRECTIVE 2005/69/EC for use in tyres within the EU. A discolouring stabiliser is added during the production process. The main application is in the tyre industry where due to its increased styrene content it can improve grip and handling performance.
